Both the classic and master versions of Sonic’s milkshakes are made with real ingredients. They use real ice cream, milk, and flavors as a base to craft a premium shake with high-quality ingredients.

You can expect their Master Shakes to also include ingredients like Oreos, fruit, and peanut butter.

How Do I Order Milkshakes at Sonic?

Unlike many other chain restaurants, Sonic has a unique way of ordering. Sonic has parking stalls set up along their lot which allow you to pull your vehicle into, park, and await your order.

To place an order you simply review the menu, then hit the “order” button and an employee will take your order. When your food is ready it will be brought right over to your car.

You can choose to enjoy your meal while you are parked, or drive home. Sonic also offers a full-service drive-thru for your ordering convenience as well.

Another way to order Sonic is by pre-ordering in the app and heading in to pick up your food. When you arrive you can pull into one of the stalls, and you’ll note what number stall you are in when you check in on the app.

Does Sonic Have Drive Thru?

A great value and way to save money while ordering at Sonic is to keep an eye out for their “happy hour” which is from 2 pm – 4 pm daily. During their happy hour, you are able to get all drinks and slushies at half price.

Something new Sonic introduced was their app “happy hour”. If you place your order on the app you are able to get half-price drinks and slushies at any time. 

Are Sonic’s Shakes Lactose-Free?

Because Sonic’s shakes are made with real ice cream, and milk as a base they are not free of lactose. Each milkshake is also topped with whipped cream and a maraschino cherry.

If you are looking for an option that is lactose-free make sure you speak with an employee to review your dietary restrictions.

What are Milkshake Alternatives at Sonic?

Sonic offers options for each meal of the day including dessert. If you are craving something other than a milkshake you can indulge in classic ice cream cones, sundaes, and blasts.

Did Sonic Stop Selling Milkshakes?

Sonic has not stop selling milkshake. As of 2024, their menu includes breakfast sandwiches, burgers, fries, tots, and milkshakes.

They even have a kids menu that include some healthier options for your little ones. You can choose to substitute the small fries that come with the meal with applesauce or tater tots.
